Multiple award-winning musician Lin Sheng-Hsiang has played major folk festivals and leading venues around the world. Growing up in Meinong in southern Taiwan he was influenced by traditional Hakka mountain songs he heard from his grandmother. As a student, he listened to Western folk and rock.

He has released 9 albums. His distinctive voice and the skillful use of a traditional instrument, six-string yueqin (moon guitar), has won him 7 Golden Melody awards amongst which he refused to accept two for protesting the Golden Melodies' categorisation of music by race and language. It is the call of every post-modern village, calling for traditional rustic simplicity, calling for simple truths, and especially calling for the freedom of the land.” This sums up in general his attitude towards music and life.
